11 Months Old

This picture perfectly describes parenting Alex at 11 months old...
He's blissfully jumping, bouncing, exploring, etc, while we run behind him, hearts racing, trying to keep him from breaking any bones.

But then there's also the fun moments, like riding bikes at the beach,

and play dates with friends,

and kisses for mama,

and lots and lots of cuddles...

"Feliz Dia del Padre, Papi! Te quiero mucho!"

We celebrated Ale's first Father's Day with a picnic at the park.

Do all parents get excited over silly things like the baby learning how to drink from a straw?

At his doctor's appointment last week Baby Alex weighed in at 23 1/3 pounds (75th percentile) and 95th percentile for hieght. He's healthy, healthy, healthy. We're getting the first glimpses of his little blingual language skills now. Today I asked for a kiss and Ale asked for a 'beso' and he gave us both kisses!

Mama's Graduation. Go Bruins!

Alex is now standing up! Just this weekend he started standing on his own without holding on to anything and within two days he perfected it. He's so proud of himself. As soon as he stands up he looks around for affirmation. Then plops down on his bottom and claps for himself. It's so cute. We're poised and ready to capture video of his first steps!

This weekend we celebrated my graduation from business school at UCLA Anderson. It was a very long three year journey but an amazing experience. Huge props to my wonderful hubby who made it possible!

"Congrats, Mama!"

"You mean I get you back on the weekends now, mama? Yay!"

All the family came in to celebrate with us and Baby Alex got tons of love!
Here he is cuddling with Grammy.

Flying!

At the beach with Aunt Ruthie who flew in from Seattle

The Iron Grandpa made the rope look like a breeze and put all the young kids to shame at muscle beach in Santa Monica.

Ready? One, Two, Three, Hike!

Alex Running

Super cute video of Alex running with Papa....

I saw the baby bleed yesterday for the first time and it nearly panicked me. He stood up in the living room and then fell flat on his face and gave himself a bloody nose. Poor guy. He howled, but only for a few minutes. He's a brave little dude. It made me very sad though.

His new favorite activity is to take all of the books off the bookshelf. Or all of the kitchen towels out of the drawer. Or all of the clothes out of his laundry basket... It is an endless game of following him around the house and putting everything back for him to unload again. I'm rolling my eyes, but he loves it, which is really all that matters!

He's 10 and a half months old now. He talks lots but still doesn't have any words. We're eagerly awaiting his bi-lingual babble. He eats blueberries and veggie burgers and beans and goldfish crackers. He is really developing an attachment to his papa which is fun to watch. They play for hours.

For anyone who is in town on Saturday, August 1st we are planning his first birthday party and would love to have you!
